    Workshop details:

    This workshop encourages participants to take a closer look at the perceived and actual benefits of strategic community allyship. Through Deaf lens, Corey Axelrod – founder and CEO of 2axend – will identify multiple ways sign language interpreters can effectively provide long-term strategic support that will collectively benefit the Deaf and interpreting communities.

    Participants will be able to:

    • Identify  differences between allyship and advocating for an individual person;
    • List strategies to identify how to best support a marginalized group; and
    • List tips to hold other interpreters accountable for their actions.

    Additional information:

    • Lunch will be on your own, with a variety of local restaurant options to choose from.
    • Cancellation and refunds will be available until July 13, 2019. After this date refund requests will be considered under board discretion.
    • Workshop will be presented in ASL.
    • Deaf community members of SCAD are welcome to register to attend free for this workshop to promote the discussion of allyship. No CEU's available under this registration type.
    • Language policy for workshop attendees: ASL must be used at all times.
    • Workshop registration cannot be transferred to another person.

    We look forward to seeing you there for a fun workshop and collaborative discussion!
